Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust commissioned our team to deliver 29 decarbonisation reports for a variety of buildings. These reports assisted the Trust in their application for Phase 3 of the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme. The surveys conducted encompassed both the building fabric and the services and aimed to identify the most feasible decarbonisation solutions while simultaneously evaluating their costs, risks, and benefits. The building types include out-patient services, in-patient services, drop-in centres, administrative rooms, education and training centres, gyms, crisis drop-in centres and mental health facilities.

Following initial surveys to understand the construction age and condition of each building and the baseline for the electricity and gas usage of each building, we conducted on-site energy surveys and plant surveys. Using this information, we built thermal models to analyse the best and most efficient way to service each building.

We provided detailed reports specific to the needs and characteristics of each building, incorporating proposed LZC technologies. The proposed solutions will encompass a wide range of options, including ASHP, GSHP, mechanical ventilation, heat recovery systems, improvements to the buildings’ fabric, replacement of glazing, roof installations, LED systems, intelligent controls, BMS, water provision through heat pumps and the integration of solar photovoltaic panels.

The key challenge for our Net Zero UK division was to consider how best to decarbonise our clients’ estates.  Our highly skilled and experienced team which includes sustainability engineers, building physics engineers, building & energy modelers, alongside our building services engineers were able to identify a carbon reduction of 60-70%.
